Two weeks ago, i meet up with a couple of my ex school mates. And i needed to blog this down after remembering one particular conversation with them.

My fren was going on about how lucky a certain friend was, X, because she was dating a non asian guy. And she went on about how X, in a non boastful way, said that how caucasian guys are way better because he makes her XX breakfast without being asked.( n X said no asian guy would do that)

Well, this morning my guy woke up early before i did to make me my favourite breakfast ( without asking) and to wash my clothes, although he only needed to wake up at 10am coz he works d noon shift.

French toast, my favourite.

And he always makes sure that I have dinner when he is working late.. And he even does his share of household chores too.

So i beg to differ that dating a fairer race makes u one up above because my man is indeed a rare gem. And same goes for my sister who did not marry a 'fairer' race but she gets first class treatment from her hubby.

Just my opinion.

Had this bowl of duck noodles for breakfast this morning. The humble stall is manned by my mum's cousin, her son and daughter in law.

I had the dry version, but looking at d dark broth i think the soyp version should be pretty good too!

Try it if u're visiting melaka, if you don't mind eating near the cemetery though :p

Famous wantan mi

Before moving to our new place, we would visit this stall almost every week... Since we were around that area last week, we decided to drop by at our old hang out place for a quick bite.

Big portion of wantan mee, the char siew can be quite good, but most of the time, its really fat, so its quite a letdown on that part.

After not visiting this place for seven months, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the tai chow beside had also revamped their menu.

Our portion (only 1 size) of fried oyster for rm10. Verdict? Not bad.. The o chien is cooked ala melaka style and the oysters were fairly big and reasonable.., in comparison to the fried oyster that i had a couple of weeks back at a certain famous hokkien mi place at jalan 222.. Not only were the oysters as big as 'pei si', but we were rudely charged rm16 for pei si fried omelette!!

How to make ABC soup

Prior to lonely dinner yesterday, I decided to make some soup.

Ingredients needed, I used small onions as I did not have any big onions at home.

Add red dates and chicken bones and boil over fire for half an hour,

Check broth every 10mins as there will be 'debris' (im not sure what that is, but I'm assuming from the bones?).. Does anyone know what this is?

After that add 'ABC' and continue to boil for another hour...

And after checking that the soup is clear, transfer it over to the slow cooker... And er, I forgot to take any pics of that...

So, life has been made a lot simpler with smart phones... I beg to differ for those who claim that they only need to use their mobile for texting and receiving/ making calls. Well, my fon not only allows me to do that but it has seriously open up endless possibilities via d web... Even watching a movie has been made easier with d tgv app..

I have previously tried blogging from my phone... But through blogger from mozilla... But was always unsuccessful...

What have I been up to lately? Hmmm.. Nothing much..

Homemade curry

Ingredients used were er, star anise, the long thingy, babas curry powder, tomatoes, potatoes, chicken, long beans n some lime juice..

And this is my first attempt at making min fun go..

It seriously took me more than three hours to dish out this... Had a little trouble with d dough...

Originally this was supposed to be the min fun ko soup,

I boiled d soup using some chicken bones n dates, for wbout half an hour before deciding that the taste did not really go with min fun ko, so i transfered it over to the slow cooker, threw in some corn and boiled it overnight..

Had this chicken dish at zen and am waiting to try it out some day.

Its chicken with ham and cheese topped with pasta sauce..

Work has been a little bit slow for me though... Ok.. Its 6pm, time to shut down pc..

Its already that time of the year, where it's only a few days away from another new year. What has 2011 have in stall for us? Hmmm... definetely BIG changes :)

And I have been officially working for more than a year now, coming to my tenth month in my current firm. Work can be slow at times, but Im definitely learning a lot, still having loads to learn, although sometimes I wonder to myself what am I doing in this line... but it doesnt seem really bad. For the pass few months it has been a lot of design based and proposal projects for me..

The good thing about my job is although Im considered a design architect, Ive been given the opportunity to attend meetings and merely not just sitting in the office. The exposure is really good. Ive even been given the opportunity to work and be in the Warisan Merdeka project, which was a real eye opener to me to go through the process... although I will not elaborate anything more on this. And I have also been exposed to client- consultant meetings and technical meetings, which is good because the designers usually just stay in the office from 9-6pm.

So I can say that although work has been on a slow and steady pace, at least I am learning alot under my boss, and the people in my firm.

This is us having a fire drill last week, and mind you, my office is on the TWENTY FIRST floor, so that is ME, running (or walking down) the fire escape stairs, LOL.. obviously we were acting.

And the highlight of the year, baby Jayden :)

I'm so glad that my bestie had kept in touch with me throughout her nine months pregnancy and updated me constantly on her progress. The same as her wedding. Wishing her and Willie a big congrats on their little precious.

I can say that 2010 was quite a bad year as there were a lot of obstacles to overcome, but at the same time 2o10 has brought alot of change to myself which I will not mention here as some are quite personal.

I guess this will be my last post for 2010 so wishing you all a very happy 2011.

See you in twenty-eleven :)

For dinner, we went to Mum's Place.. but I would not bother to post any pics up coz the service was bad, the food was so-so and we got overcharged (when it wasnt even cheap to begin with).. So i will not promote anything here, and we will definetely not be going back there.

I have never thought that doing a masterplan for an 8million square feet development proposal can be oh- so- boring. There has been ENDless meetings with the board, the traffic engineer, traffic planner, land surveyor, bla bla bla... where u get to meet Tengku this and Dato' that... I have never been in the process of dealing with things such as land acquisition, acquiring land that has been surrendered, amalgamation... and the list goes on... And then on the egress and ingresses through flyovers and basements. Ans then acquiring schools and relocating them.. YAWNSSsss...

This will be something even bigger, if not TALLer than KLCC. So I feel good to be able to be involved with something like this. The announcement of this project will only be done in 2-3 months time when everything is more firmed up.

It feels weird to know about the future developments of the city way before the public finds out, for example the MRT project, and where the future IKEA will be and where the NEW icon for Malaysia will be. I guess this is one of the perks with working in a big firm, if you don't mind all those politics involved in the office. But at the same time, handling a project that consists of 100 units of bungalows can be boring too, when the project manager keeps wanting to shrink your bungalow into a 3900 square feet building.

Sorry that this post is SOOOOOOOO boring. LOL.

Yups, nothing much to update though. Things going on as mundanely boring. Waking up at 750am, then work from 9-6pm, coming home for dinner, then bed... and the cycle continues. Meeting on Thurs and Friday.

Sorry there is not much updates going on as we are in the midst of something important. Till its finalized and confirmed :D

Yea yea.. i know it has been way too long.... (: Been busy with starting on a new job, and then switching jobs after three months. So that is basically where I have been from Dec till now.

I can say that working life as an architect is WAY better than being a archi student. An archi student gets like 5 hours of sleep for TWO days or NO sleep for TWO days. So I am soooo over u, and no way am I going back to pursue anything relating to mugging or thesis writing or STUDIO.

Besides that, am in the pursue of finding a place to stay.. many debates on condo vs landed property.. in the suburbs, where there is at least 2000sqft of space with NO worries of carparking, and at the same time Biscuit, darling can move in also; or near the city centre, where we would be cramped up in a pigeon hole of 1000sqft, and forking out another rm20k for a stewpid carpark. And then being in a strata property you need to pay additional maintenance fee and then the sinking fund at the same time. So, well... the search is still ongoing a.t.m.

Am still stuck in the office coz I am stuck with this section since after lunch. I really don't know how them drafts people can like just draw sections and sections, day by day. Oh well, at least they get paid OT. And so, I would need to bring work home to do, since they need it by Tuesday..and I am not even halfway done.

And YAYS!!! Tues and Wed I would be out of office for a design workshop at Menara PNB on a really mega but hush hush project for the time being. Can't really say much but it involves a foreign architect and alot of money (:.

Saturday is on for house hunting again..

hie y'all.. sorry for the lack of updates :) Basically from Oct- Dec I have been:

1. job hunting
2. going for interviews
3. got offered a job
4. moved to KL
5. work BESIDE a shopping mall (refer to credit card getting confiscated)
6. bf got promoted to and working longer n unpredictable hours
7. bffs wedding and being maid-of-honor :)
8. awaiting the new year 2010 and looking forward to harin's wedding :)
9. awaiting something special in June which I cant announce yet :)

for one, I am no longer UN-employed.. got myself a job, hence the lack of updates. I still have another one half month to go until I finish my probation and I hope to be confirmed :) am glad to say that I am no longer wasting away, but am doing something with my life, eventhough at times I need to LLB (look like busy) at work to avoid more work! LOL

yup, and Eu Wing has finally been promoted from GSE to AMO. So, no more coming home on time, but working overtime without getting paid.

oh yeah.. and my credit card got confiscated. DONT ask. hahahaha.

Or I should have just watched the normal show, and not the 3d type, hence the 3d glasses dropping to my mouth every few minutes. But it was company sponsored, yups.. we had the whole Cinema 2 at the Signature in Gardens with all the staff inside, cleaning lady included! and the ticket itself was RM27. So that, I have to say THANKS :)

Someone's Birthday is Coming Up!!

Being in a relationship for six years, and out of six years, we did three years of long distance.... (okay, not like Malaysia- US long distance, but we didn't get to see each other often.. ) and out of six years, five years of doing my architecture I had a very 'busy- dun disturb me- but I will need to call u at 4am to cry' relationship :) Hahaha. I still remember calling my bf during my first year where I had to design a wakaf and like 4 hours before submission I realised that I had gotten my section wrong. Haha. As if it was much help!!

Okay. We finally get to see each other like .. everyday now, n I think the madness of 'busy- dun disturb me- but I will need to call u at 4am to cry' has been switched to 'I am calling u at 2am coz I can't sleep'... Are you following me?? Hahaha

Okie I know that I am like the worse gf ever coz I can only recall spending the 19th and 24th birthday with my bf :p Birthdays of 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd... hmphhh... Oh wait. I think I did spend his 21st together. See? Im not that bad

Obviously digital cameras where not a necessity 6 years back hence the lack of pictures.

But last year, I managed to squeeze in birthday lunch at Porto Romano's (that was during my 'busy- dun disturb me- but I will need to call u at 4am to cry)

To be honest with you, I did not have any idea on what to do for my design thesis right till our studio masters asked during our last days in fourth year. When my turn came, I just randomly said that I was interested in doing my thesis on a library. Maybe the fact that I had always been an avid reader prompted me to say that. And yes, the thesis title had stuck to me till the first week of my fifth year.

The most frequent questions asked in my crit sessions was on why the library was still needed when information was already easily available through the internet. I guess that was one of the main reasons and concerns that took me awhile to figure out.

Yea, before that I have some people to pay credit to :) (just randomly as I remember and write)

I guess I was really lucky to have a studio master who had really guided me throughout the whole journey of my design thesis. Emails and smses and desk crits were vital and I must say that they had not once let me feel that the journey was alone.

And I was also lucky to have Jeanie my cousin who is in her second year, who had helped me tremendously. We were really partners in crime. Oh, how I loved doing her rendering n sketching instead of BORING cad work!! I must say that I was a Photoshop idiot till she thought me how to use it in third year. She had also kept me company till the wee hours in the morning and was also my partner in our late night snacks.

This is us upon receiving a parcel from the prince of Syria :) Notice how much younger I looked?? Hahaha

Our usual shopping sprees :) ~~(shhhh!! don't tell my bf :p)~~

And not forgetting this bundle of fur who I miss soooooooooo muchie :)!!

And while I was in the sad lonely island of Penang during my first three years, who can forget my dearest Kor kor?? In my three years, I think that I had spent most of my weekends at his place, and it was the weekends that I had really looked forward to. Being away from home during the first year was especially hard, because I realised that 90% of my coursemates spoke Mandarin and I found it hard to fit in. And being far away from my frens, I constantly felt left out and this times were really the hardest and the most depressing for me. Kor would come by and bring me milk, homemade soup, leong cha, sup ayam in my hostel or at my studio. Yes! I had made it through in Penang mostly because of him.

And a big thank you to my parents, who had given me the opportunity to be who I am today..

My dad who had given me more than enough allowance throughout my five years of uni and my mum who insisted that I needed a car :)

Not forgetting my first roomie for three sems, she was the closest friend I had in my first years in USM, where I started to feel adrift with my friends from school, maybe it was because of the lack of communication with them on my part. I guess I had felt left out coz I did not hang out with them so much. I made the biggest mistake by moving out to another hostel, and met the worst-horror-roomate number 2 of the year, who I will conveniently erase out of my memory (obviously no pics of me n her together!! )

Obviously her side of the room was alot and always cleaner than mine :p

But thanks to the ex-mad roomate number 2, I only stayed on in my new room for like two months before moving out into condo 97-14-7 with my new housemates. I guess that in my fourth to sixth sems in USM did U find some close friends to hang out with and not feel as lonely as I was.

Final Year Design Thesis - Proposal Stage

This few posts will feature the insides of my life as an architecture student in Uni. To those unfamiliar with what Im taking up, I have actually just graduated with a Part 2 in a Bachelor of Architecture Degree.

It is actually a 3+2 year course, and this is when it confuses many people. The first three year part is only to obtain a Bachelor of Science (Architecture) where else after your Part 2 you graduate with a Bachelor of Architecture. Confused? No?

In fact, when I was interested in taking up architecture, I really did not know that it was a five year degree. I thought that as long as I were to graduate with a Bachelor of 'sumting', I would be ok. But that wasn't the case. I guess this was the mistake i made?? By not understanding my course structure. After five years in architecture, I am still undecided if I would want to pursue my career in this line? Or to venture into something else?? But I know that I can be passionate about what I do if I want to.

So, coming up next would be continuation of posts of my fifth year journey. Of how everyday was a struggle to the next day. But I had made it through with the support of many people. You know who you are :)

Design thesis anyone??

Before going on my perpetual holiday, I had the most 'fortunate' experience with my design thesis. In my third year in USM, I did not haf an individual design thesis, as our third year did the same project for the whole year. Therefore, when i came to UM, not only was there a design thesis for studio but we had another dissertation to write as well. I had the boringest dissertation topic ever, which was 'The Indoor Air Quality in the LEO Building'. But that was pretty much ok as it was a quantitative sort of research n quanlitative, and yeay, I got an A for it, which did not help much since it was only a four credits.

So yea. Will be uploading some of my works soon :)

Ok, so the title of my post does not relate to my post at all. The title was due to the fact that I was googling on some remedies for my pores.

Before I came to Australia for hols, I visited my mum's big sis at her place. My Ah yi was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's... I think she should not be only five years older than my mum, and it was really sad to see her to start forget things. She can't even remember the name of her dogs. That is how bad it is.

While talking to my brother, she asked him about a million times the same questions, like what are u doing now? where are u studying .. over and over again. My brother said that he was in Australia, pursuing his Phd.

Then randomly she just said that, 'Parents always give the best to their kids, sending them overseas, and then they don't come back to their parents'.

Her two kids are currently residing overseas.

Well, that was just what she said. We don't know why or how it happened. Was it the loneliness of being alone? Or was it that she was missing her kids too much??

Anyways, I am no one to judge. This was just what I over heard her telling.

Today is my 16th day here n i'm just loving it here. It gets really chilly at night when i'm out n i guess that i am still the only uncool person still wearing a winter jacket in early spring. Hello? the weather drops to below 10 degrees on some nights. That's practically antartica to me.

Thinking back of what is awaiting for me when I get back home is practically a bummer. YES. i need to find a job.

"What? You still haven't found a job yet??"

are the remarks that I get all the time. But buzz off, it's my life, not yours. And I am practically going to be working my ass off for the next 40 years or so, so who cares??

On my trip here, I have been having a lot of inspiration for many things, which I hope to accomplish in the next year or so. But my bf has asked me to put all those on hold first till i get a job and settle down (not marriage) Yes, yes, finding a job is in the list, though not the top :p

Photos are really slow as I don't have my own camera nor a card reader to transfer my pics. But i will get to it.

YES!! that is really me!! for those who do NOT read the utusan malaysia, my thesis was featured in the special pull out in conjunction with merdeka for the new 1malaysia konsep. A great achievenent eh? Thanks to all who have made it possible for me. My lecturers, my parents and family, my bf, my studio mates and friends =)

They asked me to write 300words but then decided not to include any of it.. hahaha

YES YES YES!! they had to put in my whole big picture inside...

Well, those who are studying will probably be wishing that they can start..."working life" as soon as possible while for those who are working will probably be wishing for a journey back in time..going back to the "studying life".

Do you know why there are people who thinks like that? The answer to that question is WE ARE HUMANS!! It is just that simple. Humans like myself is one of the living example of this "theory".... ;D

Come to think of it, there are both PROs and CONs for the above mentioned "theory". These pros & cons are better "thought of" by yourselves. You are on your own...hehe

This is when it first started. Us fourth years were "forced" to take a subject in entrepreneurship. This was taken during our "Hari Keusahawan" in 2008.

In Loving Memory of.. Yasmin Ahmad (1958- 2009)

Yasmin Ahmad is a multi award winning writer, scripwriter and film director. Her TV commercials and films are well- known for their heart warming and love, that crosses cross- cultural barriers, especially in her Petronas ads. Her works have won multiple awards within Malaysia and internationally.

Yasmin Ahmad passed away on 25 July 09 at 11.25pm. She had collapsed on Thursday while presenting a working paper at Sri Pentas. She was rushed to the Damansara Specialists Hospital. She was reported to have suffered a stroke and brain hemorrhage.

Being a hardcore MU fan since like FOREVER, my bf had

started counting down the days of MU's arrival from months ago
bugged me to accompany him to the game from months ago
SPONSORED my ticket so that he could achieve number 2
made sure that we leave before lunch for the game

Oh well, the game wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I kind of enjoyed it myself (=. So here are the pics of us enjoying ourselves at the MU game (although I did lose my concentration every now and then)

Trip to Kota Kinabalu (Part 1)

This trip was planned way back when I was still in my final semester of my design thesis. And since we were in between Bali (him) and Bangkok ( all me!! ), we decided to call it a truce and settled for KK.

This is us waiting at the most SECLUDED place in KLIA to prevent anyway sneezing or coughing into our face, teehee.

Upon our arrival at KKIA, we realised that we got stranded there thanks to smart people like us who forgot to arrange transportation from the airport to the hotel at 1Borneo. Unfortunately, we were not prepared to pay RM40 for a taxi cab but we had no choice. After we checked into our rooms, we decided to take a stroll at the mall. Yippee!!

Dinner on our first night in KK,

We were carless on our first two days, but thankfully 1Borneo provided us with free shuttle bus service to Warisan Square, so we took full use of it. The is one rule though, that the bus ticket can only be obtained an hour before and not to be booked in advance.

Malaysia XI vs Manchester United. (Rematch) - the RESULT

The result for the rematch between Malaysia XI vs Manchester United is 0-2 to the men in RED.

As expected, the Red Devils dominated the game compared to the first match. However, it is still a respectable score line to the home side. Thumbs up to Malaysian football. They put up a great performance in both the match against Manchester United.

The scorers for Man United will be Macheda(11 mins) & Owen(13 mins). Yeap...it's Owen who scored for the second successive match. He looks very promising for Man United and continue to prove that he still has the predatory instinct in front of goal. Cheers to yet another great transfer choice from Sir Alex. =)

Well, Man United's Asia Tour continues in Korea. Therefore, it is good bye to the Malaysian fans. I hope they will return again in the near future for pre-season friendly.

Look at all the fans in the stadium...almost a full house!!!

the final score reads Malaysia XI 2-3 Man Utd

United raced to a 2 goal lead which were scored by Rooney & Nani respectively. Just before half time, Mohammed Amri Yahyah (No.17) managed to reduced United's lead to only one goal. The same player scored the equalizing goal to make it 2-2.

85+ minutes gone the score was 2-2, not until Michael Owen wearing No.7 jersey scored the winner for United. It was a real goal poacher's goal by the striker. Well done, Owen!! (wishing for more goals will come...)

In my opinion, United still lack of fire power up front(attacking)...hopefully things will change eventually when the season starts in August.

** overall, the match was excellent...the crowds/fans was very very lively....the stadium was filled with ocean of RED color except for a corner (yellow in color) at the South end of the stadium, were Malaysian football team supporters.

** It is said that Man United will be having another friendly match with the Malaysian XI on Monday(20/7/2009), as the initial match in Jakarta was cancel/postponed. They even rejected an offer to play a match in Australia and have decided to stay in Malaysia before they fly off to Korea.

well, this time around, we have to find our own transport to the game...not like back in 2001, we had "parents" (Jason's parents...thanks uncle & auntie :P ) to send us there....

well, i really missed those days...wish we could turn back the time. we don't have to crack our head, worry about how to get to Bukit Jalil....hehehe

all we have to do is to sit back & enjoy the ride in the car...now, we have to get stuck in the traffic jam...

hey peeps...

here's our very 1st post...or more like "his" post...hehe

Anyway, today we will be going for the Man Utd versus Malaysia XI friendly match at Bukit Jalil Stadium. I am really excited about today as the last time Man Utd came was way way back in 2001. Yea...that year were still players like Barthez, Beckham, Van Nistelrooy & many more.

8 long years has since passed by, players come & go throughout the years...many faces has changed but only figure that still stands will be the manager himself, Sir Alex Ferguson. He's the greatest!!

Not forgetting, players like Scholes, Giggs & Neville, they are the remaining core players of the team for all those great achievements and glory.

Well, I will be looking forward to see players like Ferdinand, Rooney, Van der Sar & many more. Sad thing is, some notable absentees will be Park Ji Sung, Hargreaves, Valencia & Obertan (the two new signings)....however on the bright side, we will get to witness the debut of Michael Owen!! (He scored that stunning goal against Argentina in the World Cup in 1998 that caught the eyes of the world).

I personally hope that he will prove all the critics wrong & achieve success with Man Utd. (His hunger for games and goals are needed in the team since Ronaldo & Tevez has left the team.) I am sure Owen will be a great addition to the club.

** We will be meeting up with a few friends over lunch, and then we will proceed to Bukit Jalil. Will provided further updates on the game n damn, it will be very very crowded at the stadium. Hope to see some familiar faces that the game...seeya all there & haf fun !!
